History

Oil on hardboard 8" x 8"

What stories these old buildings could tell if they could speak. This ended up as a tailor's shop but it is close to other mills and factories and doubtless had a more industrial background in its early days. Now it's all closed up, become part of our history. For the techies amongst you- I wanted to create a feeling of gentle sunshine without using blue in the sky! In fact there is hardly any influence of blue at all in this painting, just a hint of lavender to tone down the red on the building.

Aye, it's an eerie place the Bridge Rob. Some people call it Staly Vegas because of the disproportionate number of night clubs compared to its size but I know the secret corners !! he he he.

This is beautiful. Love that moody sky!

I am so attracted to these old buildings.

Two years ago our art organization of about 100 artists got thrown out of our old building for condo development. Although we found some nearby buildings into which we moved, the zoning change necessary to move that project forward, also applies to these new buildings. So, although we have them now, we will eventually be asked to leave again.
The developer did stay true to the look of this old factory building. Makes me ALMOST wanna move back in ;)

Mary - yes it's good if they can keep some of the character of the original. These buildings were built to last, not crumble to dust after 20 or so years as they are today.
