An April day on Woodhead Road

This painting has been sold

Oil on hardboard 10" x 17"

I last painted Woodhead Road in the fog so it was nice to get back there on a fine April day full of the promise of spring. This is a bigger painting than usual. If you click it you will see it bigger size, in more detail.

Strong composition. I like this one. Shows a lot of emotion.

I like the broad-brushed confidence of this new Stalybridge group, Sheila. The paintings don't feel tenative at all--very "to the point." "Workshop" is fabulous.

Thank you Linda, I am always trying to seek out strong compositions and I find nature often provides it right there in front of me if only I choose to see it.

Don your comments are really welcome and its good to see that you see more confidence coming through because that is what I have felt a little also. "Workshop" was one of those where painters say "it painted itself". I just really empathised with that view. Great fun to do.
