My backyard in snow

Acrylic on wood 8" x 8" Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this painting

This is the view from my bedroom window of my small back yard and the road opposite. We are lucky that we are on a slight hill so that makes us seem quite "high up". I enjoyed painting the grid in the middle of the yard!

Sheila- I found my way here via Mike Rooneys' blog and so glad I did.

What a marvel of atmosphere you've created with careful use of color.
I can feel the need to throw a log on the fireplace from your masterful interpretation of a snowy winter scene.

Lovely, wonderful work.

Can't remember how I found my way here, but I'm loving your paintings... especially the snow ones. We're going to get another storm tomorrow here in New England.

Elenka, thanks for visiting. Yes, we are getting another very cold spell right now. It was minus 10 in this area last night - almost too cold to snow!

I just love the way you capture the light (or the lack of It) in these paintings. You truly capture the feeling of a Pennine winter. They really are beautiful.

Thank you LaBoo, yes our winters seem pretty unforgiving don't they - but provide a lot of inspiration!

I like your work very much as you capture that cold wet atmosphere of the North in winter. They are really charming. I can almost feel I've visited these places. Will drop by again soon.

This painting has a abstract feel to it that I really enjoy.

I love the visual of a heavy constrast of light and dark. You have handled this very well.

Bet you used Payne's grey didn't you?

Naomi, thanks, yes that view lends itself quite readily to concentration on abstract shapes. Did I use Paynes grey? Can't remember - probably.
