Laughing again - I love the Dutch - ok, yes, I always find my biggest challenge in a painting is colour, so when I get a scene which lends itself to less colour, I am happy! It's very often grey here in the North of England anyway, even when there is no snow or fog we often have a blanket of grey cloud over us due I believe to the ridge of hills, the Pennines, which divide this narrow neck of the country vertically into Lancashire and Yorkshire (I'm on the Lancashire side to the west).

Great work Sheila. I like very much your last paintings. Here also the sky is very often grey !
I wish you a Happy and productive New Year.

Merci Helene - I did not realise you were living in the north of France. I have just looked up where Yvelines is - it tells me a wooded area to the north west of Paris? So yes, I think you also will get some grey skies! (I also now see where the wild boar comes in)

Sheila, I am just now seeing this one --- takes my breath away!!!!! FanTASTic. Sigh -- to have such a gift, not only for rendering but the ideas. You are way at the top of my list of favorite living artists.

Camille, what a nice compliment - thank you, but those sheep were a god-send. When I got up there with my camera, they all walked to the gate and huddled together and some of them turned to stare me out. They are so heroic, out in all weathers.

I love this painting.

Remember these sheep are wearing all that lovely heavy wool to keep warm!
