The wild moor

Acrylic on hardboard 8" x 8" Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this painting

This is a re-work of a painting I did a couple of weeks ago. I have used glazes and scumbling to get the colours richer and deeper but there's a tinge of regret that I have lost a little of the abstract quality of the original (which was called 'A windy day').

i like it Sheila
the way the eye travels to that beautiful purple/mauve of the hill in the back ground, picking up nice textures along the way, good distance!

Thank you Rob, but I feel guilty that I didn't sit outside and paint it. I tried to remember the colours and the feeling of the place so maybe it compensated a bit.

guilty?
plein air is just a means to an end...yes you can see better values, colors and atmosphere,
but nature is overpowering, taking it into the studio will enable you to put your own soul into it...

Yes, I think its the whole experience of being outside that's so valuable. It almost incapacitates me for working out there. I think you must need triple the concentration that you do in the studio. The times I have tried that is how I felt anyway. But you're right, in the studio I can relax back into that feeling of being there. Sometimes I think I'm lucky and a bit of that shows. Sometimes it doesn't, but that's the job we're in, right?
